what to use for mixdown

Hi new to the board here,and new to recording also,I have the tascam 414 4 track machine,and need to know if i can mix down directly to a cd burner,and be able to use outboard gear or does it have to mixed to 2 tracks then to
the cd burner.What about a reel to reel machine for a mixdown.I don't want to use the computer,for music,unless i get a mac and this isn't about to happen real soon,I want to stay in the analog realm except for mixdown.

You can mix-down to a CD burner assuming that you have a separate component.

If you have a burner in side your CPU you need to mix down to a recording program
and then burn away.

You could also mix down to a stereo VCR.

As far as a REEL to REEL deck., unless you already own one stay away.

This type of equipment you want to consider when you are ready to upgrade
your recording setup.

At that point there are many ways to go.
