what is it that people use to mae vocals wider without sounding like you used reverb? after i record my vocals and view them on the "waves PAZ position" analyzer, there are directly in the middle real real thin. i know reverb, delay and all that stuff is meant to make vocals sound wider but i hear some commercial vocals and they dont not sound like any delay or reverb was used AT ALL. it sounds as dry as it can be but when i view them on the waves PAZ postion analyzer, they are extremly wide. and it was just a "1 take vocal" it wasnt panned or anything.....just one vocal. how do they do this? what will be the thing i need to use to accomplish this without it being noticed that i used delay chorus reverb or nothing.... even when i listen to the acapella. i want it to sound real dry but it still be wide without having to pan or do more than one take too. what do they use to do this? i can post a sample of the acapella i'm taking about that is wide but sounds dry but i don't know how :D . thanks

There are a lot of ways to widen vocals. I'll name a few:

1: Two takes! yes some artists are good enough to sound the same twice in a row, expecially if they are recorded one right after the other.

2: Chorus. Low Rate >0.5s, not too deep either otherwise it'll sound like the singer is off-key. No feedback.

3. Invert a channel. (use only for effect (background) vox, don't do this to a whole track. ewww. That'll give me a headache. You loose all coherance of the voice, and it'll be very hard to stage it anywhere.)

4. Timeshift. Copy your vocal track to another track and give one of the two a little time offset (slide it slightly to the right). Play with the distance to give different effect. This is probably the easiest way to create stereo vocals.

5. Delay. Very short delay time, short decay. Pan the delay to one channel and the main track to the other channel.

6. Many plugins, like Avox DUO, Hyperprism Quasi-stereo, etc...

I'd stick a coat hanger in their mouth.
