I've used a Korg D8 for 4 years now, recording and mixing into sound forge. I've got more people wanting to do projects with me, so it's time to step up. I recently purchased a USB card w/ optical I/O's thinking that I could use this as a pathway for good clean sound for multitracking on my PC (using the D8 as my mixing console/input effects/pre-amp, etc). N-track is a great program, but I had sync issues (don't know why, and don't understand sync anyway). I realize I gotta buy some stuff. I'm looking at getting a sound card that will allow me inputs so that I can multitrack on my computer (w/out sync problems) and playback monitors (something better than my stereo & headphones, which I've been using to playback and mix with = nightmare). Here's the kicker, I've got $400 to spend...is this possible? Should I hit up e-bay and cross my fingers.
Please Help

Look into the Delta sound cards. You won't have enough left over to buy monitors, but I think you could deal with the speakers you got until you save anutha $400 for some Monitors.

Delta 44 or Delta 66 by M Audio.

You also might need a midi connection for syncing purposes. You can use a Midisport 2X2 (it uses your USB port).

You will be able to find it at the same website I posted above. ;)

peace.......

How does the whole sync process work? and why wouldn't the delta 44 or 66 have that function built in the card?
and...if you had to choose between the Delta 44 and inexpensive speakers, or a Gina and no speakers (I would still use my stereo speakers until I got the dough~6 mo's or so) what would you do?
Thanks
