Solely for Your pleasure - no need for feedback! rock-reggae tune...

Some of you good folks might have already checked out the songs on my site, (even if i didn't post links to each one of them here in the usual manner) and so might have heard this song already.

But, some of you may not have, and I do have a lickle problem with this track. When i put it up on soundclick, I categorized it as a reggae, but now i worry that people into reggae will probably be disappointed, because it's a clashreggae really, and that category doesn't exist. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy it. I'm mighty proud of it. From the killer bassline of all time to lyrics to kill for.

Do we all have the same chance?

I'm starting work on a video for this song next week by the way. When it's finished in six months time, I hope you all will give it a good look!!

Hey MADMUSH, That was great! It was eclectic feeling. A definate mid-60's sound with some 70's effects, and a twist of Reggae! The opening Bass line grabbed me. The vocals on the most part did seem pushed in the back, or perhaps a better descriptive would be they seemed a bit seperated from rest of it. I am not sure if I explain this in the right terms. I am new to this. Nice voice, would like to hear it more in the front. AT 2:35 I started rockin"!!!! NICE KICK-IN!!!!! That is where the drums and the guitar got me movin'. I liked that! Overall a good song! :) What did you use for the drums?

But your queston was...what style is this? I am not sure. It is hard to classify sounds in one genere. Call it ECLECTIC MUSH ROCK!!!! Sounds good to me! :D

Some reggae, some rock. Has a feel of some of the stuff from the late 80's, early 90's that was on MTV, when they played music.....
Good tune. Nice bassline, and the guitars are sitting in the mix pretty good. I wouldn't worry about genre on this. Say it is rock, with some reggae influences. I posted a tune a few months back, and the genre was Southern Fried Doom, Stoner Sludge Rock. Don't know exactly what that was, but no one else did either, so I guess it fit. Yours is more rock, than reggae, but still has some carribean feel to it.

Nice tune.

thanks guys :)

(This reply is of course really only intended to put the thread back on top.)

MUSH...I was listening some more, and wow, it is a cool song for sure..The kick in part I wish were longer or repeated. Anyway, good luck with it.
Back to the top ya go!! ;)

I agree tho with the vox being way out there. I can't understand what your singing!?

"DO WE ALL HAVE THE SAME CHANCE?
(Mad Mush)

Once upon a time we all had justice
Once upon a time we all played fair
And no-one had to slave for anybody
Everybody starting with an equal share

Do we all have the same chance?

If Jah's not in the government I don't want one
Mankind cannot govern on its own
Mankind has no right to issue orders
The whole idea is rotten to the bone

Do we all have the same chance?"

Reverb on the bass? Or on the master track?
For which genre, It sounds quite 80s because of the synth the vocals and the reverb. Add some reverb to the drums to get that 80s sound.
Weird, the drums sound the style of reggae or rock, but the rest of the song (apart from guitar) sounds 80s.
So to keep it simple i would say, Post 80s pop reggae rock. Find that in Soundclick!

Nah cant say what style really. If i had to though i would class it as pop.
Nice original mix of styles.

I love the song... but the keyboard pad makes me want to kill someone. Accordian would work well, and so would guitar swells or B3 or melodica or farfisa.

I vote for accordian or melodica.

Very Clash-esqe.

Thanks for posting... I'm constantly floored.
