What Step Am I Missing??

Ok I have a dbx160 hooked up to my fast track pro going into Pro-Tools. Im trying to get signal going into pro tools compressed. The signal is showing on the dbx but when I try to record in ProTools, it doesnt allow me to record at all. It just plays but doesnt actually record. I had to actually remove the insert to record? Whats going on?

If you had signal on the armed record track meter but you loose it when you
insert the dbx I'd suspect the insert cable isn't right. (If it is a proper insert cable, and not defective, have you tried swapping the in-out ends at the compressor?

Yea I tried to swap and the insert cable is brand new I hope its not defected. The signal goes into the dbx but but when its time to record the stop button on pro tools turns blue and starts blinking and it doesnt allow me to record
