I'm looking to upgrading and I need some ideas...

I need something with multiple SPDIF inputs, at least one SPDIF output, onboard XLR inputs with preamp and phantom power would be good, but not required...and I have to be able to access it with ease. I would like to, if at all possible, avoid having to plug into wires that are simply dangling around the floor. A box that I plug into that sets on my desk or in a shelf would be ideal.

Thanks! :)

How about an outboard digital mixer, like this ?

Wouldn't that introduce some signal degredation as oppose to having a sound card that just had the connections I needed?

Correct.

But it all depends on how you record. And what you want to do, and what you want to accomplish.

That's very awesome but none of them have the multiple SPDIF inputs that I need/want. And most of the cards are just boards with wires that would dangle around at the floor, which I strongly want to avoid. I would much rather have a card that plugs into my computer and then have one cable that goes to a desktop type of input station and what not.
