what software would replace a Yamaha DX7

Or FM7 (should be cheap)

Nice thing is the FM7 (and presumably FM8) will load DX7 patches
 
I'd do the FM7 since its cheap. Not that much difference between the fm7 & fm8 for the $$$ imo.

But what do I know, I'll never use a softsynth.

Thats what DX-7's and TX802's are for.
