Hi,

I have an HP laptop with an athlon turion x2 processor running windows vista home premium. I want to get it set up to do some simple home recording and midi sequencing. I have previous experience with using cubase, but that's not an option as i can't afford it. My budget is less than $200. What would be the best equipment and software to get (both totaling under $200) to get me set up recording?

Thanks!

save your money...or you will regret it later.

find any inexpensive interface that comes with software, most do. and a lot come with cubase le, which you already know.

start on musicains friend to check things out.

but be warned, spend 200 on someting cheap, and you will regret it. you will realize that you need more, monitors, cables, etc...

so i recomend saving your money for a bit, download some free sample versions of software and try things out.

i didnt have a computer for a while, so i was using my parents computer for recording, it sucked, but i made due. i recorded guitar with it plugged right into the input on the computer using an adaptor and learned to use the software better while doing it.

i saved for a long time, got a computer, then slowly started buying stuff, all the while doing research on gear.
