Hello,
I am trying to decide what's best for me. I want to record both cassettes and records from my stereo onto my hard drive and take those tracks and mix them onto cd. I'm on a $75 budget(courtesy of my better half) and I want to get the best bang for the buck. Will I need two separate softwares, one that will record & reduce hisses and pops and one to edit/mix my tracks, or is there one package that will do both? I know Easy CD Creator will do both, but it's above my budget. I don't know if Sound Forge or Cool Edit 2000 does the recording/hiss reducing. Any suggestions?

Try Goldwave at www.goldwave.com

particularly for hiss removal, record your file and save it....
hit effects/filter/noise reduction and under preset shapes, choose hiss removal....

Thanks guys...I had not even heard of Goldwave before...visited their website and it looks pretty good...if you know of some problems I might encounter with it and its solution, would appreciate a heads up, or I may just repost when I cross that bridge.
