Great audio gurus, I'm glad I found you. I'm a complete noob at audio mixing and do what I can to get by.

Is there software for editing audio that can gradually change the speed of a track. I'm making meditation and sleep music using ambient music and I need the song to start out at Normal speed (and pitch) and gradually over the course of, say 7 minutes, be playing at 75% speed. (I don't want to compensate for pitch change. I DO want the pitch to sound lower in slow motion.)

Thank you in advanced for your answers and advice. Whenever I have serious questions, rather than run to Yahoo Answers, I always head towards communities like these.

Adobe Audition has just such an effect included called Pitch Bender that will do what you need but it's not free. If you don't wanna fork over no cash maybe post in the Audition forums for a volunteer to apply this effect to the file for you.

.... waiting for someone to suggest putting a thumb on the tape reel .....

What are you actually recording with ? Reel to reel ? Standalone DAW ? Computer DAW ? And if the third, which software ? Knowing this will enable those in the dark robes to furnish you with...........

the answer.

Just about any general purpose audio software can do that (as well as changing speed without changing the pitch, or vice versa).

Yep. In Sound Forge 6 it's called Pitch Bend.
