I have a g5 2.0 and I also have a g3 400mhz 512mb that is just sitting there doing nothing. I would love to use the g3 in some capacity. If I could use it as a controller and monitor of my g5 that would be great. I would like to access the G5 from the vocal booth without installing an additional video card and usb port for an additional keyboard. Perhaps I could use the G3 in this capacity somehow. Anybody have any ideas?

If that's not feasible, perhaps I could use the G3 as a server for a website. I have no idea how to do this, however. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

thanks.

What model G3 is it? I know the old ones with ADB connectors allow you to connect multiple keyboards. The G5 allows multiple USB mice to be installed and function together.

If you've got both of them networked, you can control the G5 using the G3 using remote software such as VNC or Apple Remote Desktop.

Configuring a webserver requires some level of competency. Lots of stuff involved including web software, port forwarding, IP addresses, domains, etc.

Put it in your vocal booth and install a software package called VNC. There is a client and a Server. It will allow you complete control of your main computer from the remote. I use it on an iBook in the vocal booth, and have a g4 in the studio. As long as it's quiet enough, works great! Even better, get a long video cable and Wireless Mouse/Keyboard and keep the PC outside the booth.

Google for VNC. It's free and works on PC and Mac. You can even use a PC to control the mac.
