I've got my PC, my guitar amp, and my monitor amp which are all rackmount and the only noisy equipment in the studio. So I figured they could all go in one rack. I need a rack that will isolate the noise, or at least tame the db's.

I've looked around the internet, and the only thing I could find is the Raxxess Isoraxx, which is $1000! That's 10x the price of their standard rack of the same size.

I'm willing to do a little DIY, I think it's just a matter of finding a rack with a little room to put foam. I find it difficult to shop for racks and studio furniture online.. Your help is appreciated!

I don't think you shouldthrow that much heat into one rack...

When you're tracking you shouldn't need any of the amps turned on, unless it's a guitar you're recording, which would be fairly close miked anyway... which leaves the PC... It would probably be cheaper to just silence the computer with a new power supply, CPU fan, and hard drive enclosures...

Other than that, you'll need to build from scratch. Stock racks really don't provide enough room to insulate around the the components, and most of the noise is from the front and rear of the rack anyway... an Isoraxx is enclosed in the rear with a glass door on the front.
