I just got an M-Audio Quattro audio interface.

I still need to find a nice vocal pre amp to go with it... so I was wondering if any of you had any recommendations.

I have been thinking about the Presonus Bluetube.

Thanks!
:)

I guess I would get an ART MPA Gold. I just got one to use with my Presonus Firebox

From what I hear the blue tube is more toy than actual piece of real equipment. I hate all the equipment snobs out there on these forum boards...but there are some things you want to invest a bit of $$$ into.

There is a REALLY REALLY good mic pre that has almost a legend status among home recording peeps. Go to Google and do a search for the FMR RNP.

I, personally spent $800 for the new UA Twin-Finity mic pre. Its my first pre and so far I dig it. The FMR mic pre in MUCH less $$$

i'd stay away from the bluetube. it's only slightly better than the art tube mp, which is simply awful.

and i'm not an elitist by any stretch.

for vox i use a studio projects vtb-1 and i like it. it's not an avalon or neve, but it has a pleasant sound and costs roughly the same as the bluetube (per channel).

the mpa gold is a good recommendation too, for a little extra dough.

good luck! :)

It's hard work for the man with no money...all this audio equipment purchasing. Historically I have done everything imaginable to research, look into, test, try, consult and analyse...but I've still bought and paid for crap...especially that last guitar I bought...blow me down, what a piece of junk that I just want to smash into a thousand pieces. Tune you bastard! Tune! But will it tune? Nope. I need to go and have it 'set up' only to lose all the set up by the time it gets back to my house...at which time I start the impossible again...trying to tune it.........oh wait....sorry....I thought I was alone....

Back to the thread....

I chose the Art MPA Gold because of what I read about it and because of how much it costs...I haven't got it yet...it's in the mail.

All of you, thanks for the advice

It's so tough to try to adjust to the idea of something that costs about $200 to something that costs $1,700. The Art MPA Gold, that is now my strongest contender.

In this kind of $ field just get what you can and do the best yuo can with what you have got. Even though people bag some of the stuff I have got I still love it because it's my stuff and it's all I can afford and all my intelligence would allow me to select.
