Well first of all I will mostly be working with rap vocals. I will be working with a behringer b2 and was wondering what pre-amp for under $200 would work best. I've heard good things from the art tube pac, but haven't used it personally. i've also heard some good things about the joe meek mq3, but haven't used it. I want a warm sound aswell. Unfortunately, there are no major retailers in my area where i could try these things out so I have to rely on your comments.

So in summary i need a pre-amp for unde $200 that would work best for rap vocals recorded on a behringer b2.

thank you,

I would like to help but it would interfere with my solemn oath never to do anything that might contribute to the longevity of rap music ;)

But seriously, there about 500 discussions here on cheap preamps and especially those models. Look around a little and you will see more opinions than you can bust a cap at.

Not all Rap music is about Drugs and guns, hoes you dumb Stereotyping PRICK how would u feel if i said all Rock is nothing but a bunch of Santanic Screaming?

Rock is a bunch of Satanic screaming, that's what makes it so wonderfull.

Only Mexicans like the Santanic screaming, though.

Not all rap is bad, just 99.8% of it. I could say the same about rock also.

I like MC Solar, he's pretty cool. I just resent any 'artist' who takes another song, changes the words, and has the balls to call it new.

Pdiddy isn't fit to wipe the asses of any the artists he's ripped off. Since they are making a ton of dough off him also I guess they dont complain much. Now that I think about it, fuck the artists that let rappers ruin their music. Kashmir and Every Breath You Take were once great songs.

And for warmth you would probably be happy with the Meek. You could even overdrive it a little for that "Kashmir" ripoff vocal sound.

Yo PG13, it's funny how people who are really interested in this stuff bump into each other on various boards. I've been looking through this site for a while now, but just started posting, and i remember seeing you at the cool edit forums a long time ago.

Anyways, I know you have the joe meek, so is there any way i can here a sample of it with rap vocals. I've heard it used with guitars and singing, but i'm not sure how it will sound with rap vocals, nah'mean.
....and to everyone here commenting on the state of hip-hop, chech the underground and you'll be presently surprised.

thanks for the replies,
one...Re-iLL

yup

I've been having the same types of discussion on other boards as well (the motif one comes to mind) but as long as it's done ina civilized matter, there's no problem..I understand the views of the 'real live' musicians, it's just a question of how you view music.

Pdiddy is as bad as Mariah Carrey as far as I'm concerned...but that's another story...

We're not here to discuss tastes and music anyways, but just technical questions, which is what makes that board so interesting and helpful (so thanks again guys)

Just wondering what type of gear you use, Re-Ill?

Joemeek

I'm gonna be using a behringer b2 microphone along with a delta 44 soundcard and hopefully whatever pre-amp/compressor i decide to get.
