Going to be doing a little of R&B, mostly HIP HOP

What's the importance in order from most important to equipment you can do without.....

1. Yamaha Motif
2. MPC 2000xl
3. MO Phatt
4. Triton, Triton Rack, or Karma

I will probably start off with buying the most important two pieces of equipment..

you can't use the mo phatt without a master keyboard or sequencer. the mpc is all that: BUTT!!! it only comes with a few drum sound disks so without other sounds or samples you wont be able to do to much. now either keyboard would be great as long as it has a sequencer. if you have a computer you can get cakewalk or cubase but then there's other stuff you need.
I started with the mpc first then the planet phatt . MPC for drums and samples and the planet phatt for backgrounds and leads. it also had more drum kits. if I could do it over I'd get the mpc and a keyboard. MPC for drums and samples and keyboard for other instruments. I say this b/c once you have the mpc and the board you can focus on the sounds that you don't have. the keyboard lets you add a more musical vibe than just the mpc pads.
P.S. if you get the mpc sequence everything through that and you will be alot happier unless you find an eaiser sequencer on a keyboard or cpu or what ever. Oh and remember the mpc is a sequencer so don't buy more than what you need unless you got that kind of chedda!!!
PEACE!

2. karma,triton, or motiff
3. mo phatt,triton rack
