What order for Vocal Plugin FX Chain?

Hi. I'm using Blockfish (compressor), Spitfish (de-esser), Freeverb Too (reverb),G Gate (gate) and Electri-Q posihfopit edition (eq) on my vocal channel and am wondering which order to place these in the chain?
 
In lieu of an expert opinion, take my advice of trying different combinations 'til you find something you like!
 
*Think about it* and the answers will come. There *ARE* generally right and wrong ways of doing it - But "right" and "wrong" depends on what you're shooting for.

In any case, you probably aren't going to want the verb in line - But as long as you do, do you want to EQ the verb? Do you want to gate the verb? Do you want to de-ess the verb? Probably not. So the verb goes last (actually, it should be on an aux. But that's obviously for another thread).

Do you want frequencies that may not be in the final mix to affect the compressor? Now you know where to put the EQ.

Generally speaking, when you want to DO something to the signal (affect the dynamics or the timbre) you insert it. If you want to ADD something to the signal (modulation, spatial effects) you send a copy (aux) and insert it on the aux.

And things like reverb tend to be common elements - You're not going to put the same plug with the same settings on every drum to get the drum verb - You're going to send an aux of all of those drums independently to ONE verb.
 
I don't think there's any special formula for this.

What i use:

Lead vocal:
I use a multi-band compressor like Waves C4
Then a vocal compressor.
a Gate
de-esser
EQ

Double Vocal ( this is the same as lead, but just tracked again )
I use the same effects + any reverb appropiate for the ocassion

I put both tracks in the timeline, and i do an automation process in the doubled vocal.

To be more specific, i just raise the volume UP in the doubled vocal, in the sections where i want the VOX to be fuller, bigger, i mean, just COOLER.

In chorus of the song, i do the same thing, but with 4 tracks
( i track choruses 4 times )
and i do automation to taste.

Actually, I've been known to do such a thing... :D Sometimes even already de-essed esses sound icky going through a reverb, so I tame it down separately a little more; using an aux send, of course.
