What mic would you choose for recording live groups in loud club/outdoor settings?

Sorry if this has been covered, I searched for quite awhile and read the faqs. I have a friend looking for a recommendation and I'm not sure where to point him. He has a mobile iPhone interface and has been using SM-57s, but would like a more accurate, full-frequency response. Something that would be $300 or less, a stereo pair would be great. He sets it up in clubs and stuff to get live recordings.

I've been thinking of recommending a matched pair of Naiant U-D mics. If you have a better suggestion, please let me know!
 
Yes. That is logical.
All of my Naiant microphones are great at capturing the source.
Plenty of others will chime in with the same story.
