Hey can anyone out there help me? I am trying to do some recordings of me playing sax and clarinet and also tin whistles and piano melodica. I am on a low buget and would be interested in condenser circuits as I also occasionaly need to be miked up to be heard in the band.Any help would be appricated.

Thankyou Hogal.

I would suggest a clip on mic... probably a member of the Audix D- series... like a D2... (they are about $200 U.S)... (i think)... They are designed to pick up minimal room noise.. (other instruments etc..)

Shure SMack 57's and 58's also work well with brass and reeds!

Yeah 57's and 58's are great also... The only thing with them, is there size..... The audix ones are pretty much the exact size of a D-cell battery, so they don't stick out 4 feet front of you (slight exageration):)

Shure has a new "Instrumentalist" package which I'm looking at now. It is an SM93 on a gooseneck which clips on, with the wireless transceiver and stuff. If you like dancing around, it'd be great.

I just don't like the amount of mechanical (ie, keypress) noise that it passes when used on a trumpet. Sax keys are softer so may be better

Thank you for your sugestions

Thank you guys for such a quick response I had no idear that any one would answer so quickly
I will look into all of the mikes you have sugested, the crappy condenser mike that i have tends to pick up every litle bit of key noise even when I play loud or key softly still will keep forging forward and again thanks
