What kind of mixers are good for a multiple synts set up?

I'm a guitar player, but through the years I've gathered quite a collection of synts/keys etc. I took some piano lessons allong the way, so I can do some nice arrangements on home recordings, nothing fancy.

I'll be building a new studio soon and want to permanently set up all this stuff. I thought it would be handy to have a seperate mixer in that corner to plug everything into. What are you guys using?

What are your goals here? I'm assuming you're wanting to mix to a specific set of amps, or you don't have enough free channels on your main board?

In that case something like a Fostex 2016 or a Tascam MM-200 would work fine. Specifically these two are a 16x2 and 8 stereo x2 "line mixer" There are many variations on the 2U and 3U rack spaces generally and quite often in the US$40-200 range depending on e.g. E*bay or CL.

I agree a rack mount line mixer would be a good way to go - they don't take up much space and you really don't need a lot of routing options is you are simply sub-mixing keyboards.

I have a lot of modules - some older analog devices that don't have on board effects - so I use a Mackie 1604 mixing - 16 input channels, 6 sends for routing effects in and out of the board and stereo outs to my main mixing board.
