Recently...AT3525 on top by itself or on bottom with a 57 on top.

The more I experiment, the more I appriciate an SM-57.

Beyer M-201, side of the shell. Or an RE-15 in the same place.

SM57 on top. MXL1006 on bottom. Mix in the MXL1006 as desired.

414 on top. Whatever on bottom, but usually a SM 57 is okay. If I only got a 57 for top, I will gladly live with it.

Shitcan that D1.

my last recording the 57 didn't give me a good snare sound, sounded more like a tom. GRRR, i had to use my over hang mic for snare sound. Oh well. where do you put the mic at? for a good mounting location

It depends but for the most part, I put the snare mic out from the drum about 3-4" pointed more or less at the rim. Much closer and it seems to be all attack and no body.

whats wrong with the d1 sonusman?

as far as placement goes, i start about an inch inside the rim and an inch above the head pointed at center.

track rat ,you put the mic outside from the rim 3 or 4 inches? i will have to try that. ive never gone out side of the rim.
