Some years ago a salesman pushed this mic on me. It is a battery powered AudioTechnica condenser mic. Does this unit get any respect in the world of pretty sound recording? (Does anyone know this bugger?) Also, it is powered by a singer AA battery--anyone know if it can take phantom power?
TIA....

If I remember the 11 is the same as the atm33a but it is an omni version and yes it will take
phantom power, It is a middle of the road mic for audio technica, affordable, descent,
But not special.

Thanks for your reply Herm. I did a little further investigation. first--the mic actually says unidirectional on it. But you are correct--I found a picture and it is cosmetically identical to the ATM33A. But while the 33a is battery/phantom operable I just tried my 11 and it doesn't work on phantom. So I'll assume this is one of the major differences between the two--plus the resultant performance differences of the different power sources.
