I am wanting to know what the vocal effect used in the effect chain of his vocals. This song I am using to record my A Level music tech and I want to get it spot on.
The section of the song I am looking at specifically is here:

"they'll see you to you
they'll be your guide
back home where life leaves us blind"

This bit near the start in the brige.. where he sings "Back home" and it goes all distorted and saturated like the mic is clipping. I know it doesnt sound like an amp distortion and it is really puzzling me into what he has done to get that effect.

If someone can help me out here I will be soo so grateful

The song is here on youtube:

The song is the last track from their new album

Artist - Linkin Park
Album - A Thousand Suns
Track No - 15
Year - 2010

Thanks

Just a guess but....

1>> 1176
2>> Distressor
3>> Multiband Compression

What you mean 1176?
It is a very clever effect and is tricky to emulate. Not had many replies or help from many people on this :P

It's a microphone pre amp. You can run it hard into a soft distortion.
