What is the easiest way to construct a 2'x4' x2" 703 panel??? I see that on ebay, you can buy like 6 2x4 panels of 2" for like 69 bucks. Once you get these, I know you have to wrap them in fabric, but do you also need to frame them to make them sturdy, or are they constructed in a manner that is already sturdy enough, just needs fabric to cover it??? I plan to hang a few of these flat on the wall, then a few of them will be used as corner traps, so I will have to mount them to two adjacent perpendicular walls. Any thoughts on the easiest way to attach these panels??? Oh yeah and last thing, how much will each of these panels weigh??? Thanks.

Weight depends on what wood you use, what thickness

If you just need absorbers for walls, you can probably get away with a 2x3 frame. I don't think they'll do it anymore, but if you could get someone at home depot, loews, etc to slice a 2x4 into a 1x4, you could use that. Suspend the 703 in the middle with hooks around the outside of the frame, or nails that go all the way through the frame and stick out on the inside. However you decide to get the 703 in the frame, once you have it, get either Cloth of Maine (pricey) or burlap and using a staple gun, attach it to the frame to cover the 703. If the frame is going against a wall, you only have to do one side, but you may want to do both.

If you're creating moveable gobos, do the same as above but attach plywood (or whatever type of your choosing) to one side of the frame.

If you decide you don't need a frame, 703 is sturdy enough that you could hang it from hooks on your wall and it will hold its form for the most part. Hanging is always the part that involves the most creativity. Most of mine is up with hooks in the back, and or nailed into the studs of the walls. My bass trap was 3 pannels thick, and 2 high (6 total) so it probably weighs about 20lbs and it is still suspended in the corner of my room, supporting its own weight with about 6 nails in each side.

Longest post ever. good luck

I've made a few, but I'm about to screw some right into the ceiling with big washers or strips of peg board to hold 'em up, and then tack my 6'x9' 48 star flag up under them.

Not too afraid of the Fiberglass inhalation thing once it's up an basically covered like that.

Anyway, that's the simplest I can think of.

you only need frames if you like crisp edges. Otherwise no frames is fine.

You can make frames from 1x wood, but it is also relatively cheap and easy to make them out of steel studs and self-tapping screws. It just depends on what you are most comfortable working with.
