What is the difference between the Mackie HDR2496 and the MDR2496?

Besides the $1,300 price difference?

The May edition of "Recording" magazine has an article on the MDR....it says its nearly identicle except for the lack of keyboard, mouse, and video ports....i assume that means you cant do editing and such on a monitor and stuck with looking at the small face panel.....other than that difference, im not really sure.....

I have gone to the www.mackie.com website and looked at both of these machiens. They both bost 24 track recording. but I see not a single sign of an analog input. I have the Mackie 32 Channel 8 bus mixer. After the mic, that is micing the guitar comes into the mixer and I run an out to the recorder... where would I stick the damn thing if there are nó analog ins or outs on the Mackie HD or MD 24?

With the Alesis HD24 you get 24 balanced analog ins and outs plus 24 channels of lightpipe plus the network connection.

Do they plug into the front panel, back panel of side pannel? Or is there some kind of patchbay that is not shown on the www.mackie.com website? Because I saw not one single analog in on the "back panel" picture of the HDR24.
