To set up a guitar and vocal track at the same time...instead of multi tracking. Basically acoustic guitar with vocals. But i can still mix seperate..possible?

Thanks!

Figure 8 mic on the guitar, with the vocal set in the null.

A figure 8 mic picks up from the front and back, but doesn't pick up from the side, top, or bottom (90°); that's the null.

i have a solution. now if you have stereo capabilities and pan on your mixing device this applies to you. heres the concept of what im about to tell you: if you have a recorder that records left and right (stereo) then you have a two track recorder but the two tracks must be recorded simultaneously. now, this is how you separate the guitar and vocal into individual trax. real simple. before recording you shoot the vocal mic to the left (track one) and the guitar mic to the right (track two). during playback your vocal will be in the left and guitar in right so what you do now is plug output left into one channel in you board and output right into the next channel. you now have mixing capabilities of the vocal and guitar without multitrack.
