What is the best soundcard in A/D situation?

It has to be in the range of $0-$1000. I want to record from the analog output of my synth to my computer of course which is one of the latest pavillions, extra fast so there will be no lag or delay.

So which one in your opinion is the best soundcard outhere to record from ANALOG to DIGITAL.

Yes, I'm willing to spend the buck, because right now I have amateur equipment (soundblaster, djx synth). I want to upgrade to the best that I can get, step by step!
 
I don't think anyone will dispute the Lynx two or Lynx 22 are at the head of the class as far as internal converters go.
