I have cakewalk 8 and a yamaha PSR-SQ16...dont laugh!

I used Acid for my multitrack recorder. I want to be able to "midi" my keyboard into my sound card (cheap ass creative 512) and play over the beats I create in acid. or I want to be able to make a beat on my keyboard and then play (via midi) into cakewalk so the beat is crystal clear and then take that wave file and record vocals in Acid.

I've searched high and low and I think I may have gotten it to work once but I'm not sure. Any suggestions or websites out there that will show me how to hook all this up?? I know how to hook up my midi plugs and the midi out from the key board would go to the midi in on the soundcard....but what about the keyboard? there is something I need to set/config. on it so it plays midi and I can't remember/figure it out. I've checked the manual. I need to play with it but I'm hoping someone out there has some tips? Thanks in advance.

I've seen it done

Ok, you have the sequencer and audio capability in Cakewalk, and you know u need to hook MIDI IN's to MIDI OUTS. Your beats are audio, from Acid, right? So they need to be recorded into Cakewalk's sequencer, then have CW drive your keyboard. The keyboard has to have it's MIDI channel(s) to be the same as CW's MIDI transmit channel(s) for what u recorded on the keyboard to be played back by the computer.

Take a look at Cakewalk's manual and your board's manual for sending and receiving MIDI signals, playing back MIDI.

Check this site out:

or just do a search on yamaha psrsq16 on google.com

Hope that helps
