What is making my guitar sound like this; w/ mp3?

Why does my guitar sound so, well, anoying? I am assuming it's a mid-rang problem. I used a Shure 57 and a Sennheiser 421 U-5, and panned the Sennheiser hard right and the 57 about 11 o'clock to the left. The Senn.'s fader was at 4 and the Shure's fader was a 7. The Shure was right up to the grill on a 45 degree angle and the Senn. was about 3 feet away.

My guitar is clearly out of tune. Anyway I am triying a get a really "full" sound that is not irritating to listen to. Any ideas? Should I have more tracks? What other mics to you recommend.

you probably have some phase cancellation if neither one is workin out for ya.. what kind of cab you got? you also need to consider the room in this equasion.. if its a 4x12 and using those mics i would put one top left and one bottom right off both off axis, exactly opposite of each other. but thats me. if you have a good sounding room set a condenser in the distance for a middle pan, and pan the other two i said hard left and right.

A 4.5meg is to big for my modem. Can you set up a small sample of guitar alone?.
 
Frank, I don't know what you find "annoying" on this piece, or what you'ld like to achieve. I know someone who's gonna jump on me for bringing "tone" into this, but I'm wongering what amp your going thru.
I just got a VS265 and am trying to blend the "transistor radioish" tone into something that sounds more like my JCM602. Isn't gonna happen!
We all hear differently, and one man's effects are another's nightmare. The effect to me was that of a well played piece thru a SS amp. I thought the guitar was well placed and even in the mix.

ham was right .... phasing problem.
also - panning them like that would make it worse instead of better.
try the senn on speaker corner on one of the bottom outside corners, 57 central on opposing top speaker.
 
Shaliat, The first mp3 is just the guitar Tracks, the second is the mix. Something happened during transfer to my computer so the mix will sound like it has being panned hard left or right... just an error on my computers part.

Getahgrip , I have the vs8240, I know it is discontinued. Got it in 1995.
