Hey Philanddon,

Do you hang out in the 2000CD forum at the Planet? Under which handle?

I used to be um..... very involved there, shall we say?

;)

Been a member since 1999.

Have you read about some of the problems that people have had? How does your CD-RW work? Any problems with the HDD?

I really like the AKG 414. I rented one about 7 years ago, and wanted to buy it, but the rental shop wasn't selling. It was only this year that I could afford one.

I want a recorder to do it justice. I hope this will do so.

One more question, if I may:

Do you use your VS as in 24 bit mode, or 16?

Thanks!

MK

Hey MK-Ultra,

I signed up for the VS forum but have practically never used it. I can't even remember my handle and password; but I think it's something similar. I like this board better I think.

What problems are people reporting on the VS forum. I'm curious.

I've tracked very very little with my new VS. Just kinda getting ready. Tracked a lot on my Boss BR-1600 which I liked a lot and that machine was easy to use. But I wanted something more "pro."

I definitely will track at the 24bit mode. I understand that the VS dithers down by itself when making the CD. Conventional wisdom is that 24bit recording is better than 16bit even when the end product is a 16bit CD. I've never heard the difference for myself since I've never tracked the same performance at 16 and 24bit, but I'm prepared to go with the conventional wisdom. Looks like there's plenty of hard drive space.

So far I very much like the way my 414 ULS sounds on the roland. Do you have any interest in the 414XLII. Like I wrote, it's a little brighter than the ULS. (AKG recommends it for vocals). If that sounds better for you, I'd trade you my XLII for your ULS. I'd even throw in a little cash. Think about it.

Neil.

Um,

That's a negatory on the 414 trade, P&D...

;)

Thanks for your time, though!

MK
