Latency is the amount of time it takes for an audio signal to pass through your audio hardware and software back to your output source. Example: say you have guitar, mics, and other routed to your sound cards input. You probably want to monitor these live inputs through your audio software. You may want to listen to the live inputs along with the prerecorded tracks on your hard drive. The live input will be delayed. We are talking about Milliseconds. But there is still a delay.Lowering Buffer size is one way to reduce latency but increases a load on your PC.You should refer to sound card's operation manual on latency or call thier tech. supp. line if this information is not available.
