its a software like the cubase or the nuendo?
its a software that i can use only if i got a digi 001 002 or mbox?

someone can please explain what is a pro tools

thanks

Pro Tools is kind of a system. It is software that has been designed to work only with certain hardware. The introductory Pro Tools system is Pro Tools LE. It only works with the Digidesign Mbox, 001, 002, and 002 R (and maybe the high end TDM and HD hardware? ). There is now a version of the software called Pro Tools M Powered I believe that will allow it to be run with certain M Audio hardware.

If you want the full blown Pro Tools, it is extremely expensive. It requires specialized cards, and specific hardware that seems to start at about $3000 ish for the hardware and about $7000 ish for the cards.

so what is the pack that digidesign gives with the mbox and the 001 ... .. ?
its good for studio use?

i dont understand what is the different between useing pro tools software with digidesign product and useing cubase or nuendo with every
sound card interface
i see video demonstration from the vst website and its look to me ass the same thing
as the cubase

Protools is, in effect, the same type of thing as cubase or nuendo. It's made by a different company.

the pro tools software that comes with the mbox or with the other products
better then working with steinberg softwares?

It is the same as working with cubase. The biggest difference is that you have to use digidesign hardware with protools. With cubase, you can use almost anything you want.

but which of this two softwars is better?
steinberg or protools?
the plug ins in pro tools is better?

thank you

that question is arguable.

pro tools is used in many professional studios but other programs have come a long way. I think the best answer to the question is that most of the higher end software packages offer pretty much the same features. The best advice is just to pick one piece of software and get good at using it. some good best to check out are pro tools, cubase, nuendo, sonar, logic and traction. do a search for these products and try out their demos.

It isn't a matter of better. They are almost the same, protools is just more compatable with big studios.
There is no quality difference between the 2 programs.

i am useing cubase for a long time and i know how to use it very well
it just that i didnt know that its consider as a protools software
and i see a video demonstration of the protools software and i notice that its the same thing so i asked

thanks for helping me
