Howdy all,
I am still in a steep learning mode here but have made good progress over the last couple of days. Thanks for all the help from you folks.
So it seems that minidisc is sort of dead as a recording medium and is being replaced by CD burners or other memory media. Largely due I guess to limited stoage capacity of the md.
So what is a good entry level digital recorder for capturing a live performance? I would expect the ability to record at least six tracks simultaneously and really don't care a whole lot about special effects, drum machines, etc. as I will be doing acoustic folk stuff and then editing it on my computer once recorded.
Two machines I noticed have possibilities, the Tascam 788 and the Zoom MRS-1266. The Zoom seems more desireable as it has gobs of memory, a USB port, and can include a CD burner. The Tascam has more limited storage, requires a SCSI external burner and has no other way to download data to a PC.
I am on a tight budget and will be shopping for a used machine, hopefully around $300. Anyone have suggestions for a cheap but decent recorder/mixer for multi-track live work?
Thanks,
Rudy2
