What important info to look at when choosing Audio Interfaces/Mic Preamps?

Like db levels, frequency etc.
Which levels, numbers should i look at to know the audio int/preamp is worth buying? Especially one which reduces background hiss/noise as much as possible when increasing the signal on a mic.
Please educate me on this!
