So these pieces were part of an audio job lot I purchased a few days ago. Excellent condition throughout but I've now realized I have zero to no expertise in hooking these two up to see if they actually work. Is there any possibility that a user's manual might exist somewhere so I can get busy with this?
I'm very excited to see what I can do with it and how it sounds (through a standard stereo system for now - pre-amp, amp, speakers kinda' thing).
If anyone cares to prod a relative newbie in the right direction it'd be wholly appreciated!

Yes.

DL the M30 manual off this site,... search Analog Only forum.;)

Congrats:eek:;)

Is that a M-35 mixer you have? If so, I can help out on some questions. I have the M-35 op/service manual as well. Let me know if I can help, ok.

Ooh,...

The M30 and M35, despite being sister products from the same production run, are totally different mixers with no overlap of form or function.;)

Got the M30 part

Thanks to one and all for a point in the right direction.
But now it's the search for the user's manual for the M34 - why am I getting the feeling this ain't gonna' be short, fast 'n sweet!
Can I skip the mixer and go direct into my pre-amp with it? (This is what I get for spending most of my life with two channel stereo home audio gear - there's an "R" and there's an "L" on the outputs and inputs. Hard to screw that up - but I've done it!)

It depends....

It depends on the line level that the standalone preamps are outputting. The M30/34 are a matched system in design and function which runs on -10dbV line level. For that and many other reasons I'd recommend the "easy" straight line solution is to use the M30 and 34 together. Plug and play.

Right out of the box the M30 might seem unclear or confusing. It's actually very simple and highly functional. There's lots of ins and outs and different ways you can implement the mixer functions to the recorder. The manual's been posted several times on this forum. It's worth it in my opinion to tackle the relatively easy learning curve of the M30 to use it together with the 34.

The 34B manual used to be posted on the official Tascam website, until about a year ago. There may be other users or sites who would be passing on this download pdf, but I don't know of any offhand.

Wait. Let me check.;)

Thank-you very much for that time and trouble. And now, 37 pages of gettin' toit! Nothin' like a bit a book learnin' to keep you sharp!
