Jdechant recomended taking a look at Samplitude, wich I did. The demo is great, easy to use and fit what I'm looking for. But what happened to it?

If you look for Samplitude, you find references to Sek'd. On Sek'd website, you find all about Sequoia, but nothing about Samplitude. Now if you look for the demo, you arrive again at Sek'd. While in eshops, Samplitude is to be found at Magix. But on Magixs site, there is nothing about Samplitude.

Now, is samplitude dead and should I look at Sequoia? Is it to be found at Sek'd or at Magix?

to clear things up,

Samplitude is being developed by the same team of developers it originally was developed by. Product distribution has changed from Sek'd to Magix. you can find Samplitude of Magix's website, magix.net, under Pro Audio/Video or goto www.samplitude.de and click English is the upper links part of the page.

Sequoia is basically Samplitude with modified code. It is also more expensive and is only at v5.92 in official releases. Sek'd germany went bankrupt a little while back. Sequioa is still being developed though and is in beta 6.07 stage, but is behind Samplitude in official releases and support such as WDM, etc...

I am not sure who will be handling the distrubution of Seqoia v6 when it is released... I believe Magix will be handling that as well. Again the developers are still the same (I think the same team develops both Samplitude and Sequoia)... all that has changed or will be changing is the distrubutor/promotor of the product.

Go with samplitude producer 2496. If you need 24bit WDM support under win2000/XP, there are patches available (currently v6.03) to enable this support. However, if you install a patch over the trial version it will reduce the trial to 30 days.

Tanks, this clears it out a bit. I just wanted to make sure not to go a dead-end route. Going back to practise a bit.
