I recently traded in my Fernandes Reyna Acoustic/Electric for this Gretsch electric. Before I traded, I went online and tried to find some info on the guitar. I found nothing that matched it. There were a lot that looked like it but there are a couple of things that make it different from the others. For one thing, the master volume knob is kind of embedded into the pick guard. Also, the bridge on the others were really big and vintage looking. This one is not like that at all. I have included a photo. Please take a look and see if you can find out what guitar this is.

Here are some specs:

22 Frets
Dual Humbucking Pickups
Black Sparkle Finish
Headstock says "Synchromatic"
Semi-Hollow body
Bolt-on maple neck
Rosewood fretboard
3 way switch

If you need anymore info, take a look at the pic.

Thanks!

The closest approximation I can find is a G1625 Synchromatic Black Sparkle Jet with an f-hole.

The above site seemed to be pretty helpful. Although there was no picture of this particular guitar, they had a picture of the Silver sparkly equivalent (minus the added f-hole, G162X series added the f-hole to the electric syncromatic range), and the volume knob is located in the same place.

I looked up the guitar you suggested. It looks very similar! I found a pic: http://www.station-music.de/images/Gitarre/Instrumente/gretsch_synsvspk.jpg

However, mine has a pickguard. The page you linked to said that Gretsch made so many of those models that they could not keep track of all of them. You'd think there'd be some kind of documentation somewhere...

In any case, it seems entirely possible that there was a model of this guitar that had a pickguard. I'm guessing that the guitar that I have is the one that was released in 2003. It was discontinued in 2003 so that means that there was probably a limited number of these.

When I got mine, there was still the plastic film on the plastic access covers on the back which indicates that this guitar is either fairly new or has been sitting in a closet for a long time.

Yeah the lack of a pickguard made me a little unsure as to how right I was. But I assumed that the pickguards were maybe optional or something.

It's the low-endy kind. I was going to buy one a while ago, until I realized the store was overcharging on everything. They had it for $400, I think.

The store I got it from had it for $250. Since I traded a $220 acoustic for it, I feel good about the deal.
