Hey,
so i've been playing guitar, piano, singing and writing for the better part of ten years now. This winter my bandmate and I recorded a four track demo in his dorm with a lot of equipment that I would like to own myself so I can start recording some of my own tracks. I've been doing some research on my own and asking his advice but i'm trying to get as many opinions as possible so here i am.
As of now my equipment/instruments is as follows: a shitty zoom mic, macbook pro, handful of guitars and basses, a piano, some small amps, a loop station and a few other effect pedals. What i would like to accomplish: create clearer tracks with the use of over-dubbing, adding in additional instruments from vocal takes to piano, and "electronic music" if it seems appropriate. (I would also like to mention that I'm really into creating electronic music, kind of like dreampop, im not sure how to explain it, but garageband has grown old fast and I would really like a weighted mini keyboard with some controls to tweak the sound)
In terms of audio interfaces i'm initially attracted to the scarlett 2i4. From my understanding it will allow me to record vocals and guitar at the same time through different mics, and also offers a connection to a MIDI keyboard? (correct me if i'm wrong). For MIDI my dream is to have the MPK25, this is the one i'm most familiar with and i've heard only great things about it. In terms of mic's im all up for suggestions, im at a loss there, but ideally would love to have one that can be dedicated for guitar quality, and another that can handle vocals and a piano.
any help at all would be greatly appreciated
