Yeah, I hate the "call for price" crap. However, their's is usually pretty good, and the speed and shipping are top notch.

I never really understood the whole "call" thing... I mean, it's a good price. Why not go ahead and advertise it?

As a dealer for a lot of audio companies I can answer that. We you sign up to be a dealer you agree to advertise at the "MAP" pricing. That price is set on your dealer price sheet. That’s why you can go to ten websites and see the same product for $199.99. However a dealer can sell it cheaper but they must advertise at the MAP pricing. If a dealer does not they can have there dealership pulled. So that’s why you see these email a better price or call for one.

MAP = Manufactures Authorized Price

And I can tell you that Fletcher at Merc Audio advertises the price he sells for. Any manufacturer that tells him no gets the boot. Plain and simple. Every retailer should do the same as I have no time to call and beg for the prices. When I see that crap. I move on to the next contact.

i dont have an unlimited minutes after 7 phone plan....actually i dont have an unlimited minutes after 9 phone plan....i have a prepaid cell phone so thats a ton of money wasted calling and asking for prices.

i think i might have the websites that are predominantly "call or email for price" as a seperate list.

Companies like Soundcraft, Amckie and Crest don't care what the dealer thinks about its pricing. As a dealer I know I will lose alot of business if I don't carry those lines.

You are wasting a lot of money. The place to buy gear is from sound contractors like myself. I sell to anyone at 10-15% over my cost. I can't advertise those prices but if you call me I can save you a ton of money. If I can save $50.00, $100.00 or more dollars for a phone call I'm dailing.

Here's an example:
Soundcraft Spirit 8 32 channel MAP price $5199.00
if you call me I can sell it to you for $4500.00.
So for 10mins on the phone you saved $699.00.
and I made $450.00 and everybody is happy :)

You can or you can email me at prosound@bellsouth.net

well....ams has it for $700 and you beat the price....looks like I'll be eating crow tonight lol. now my next question is do you offer payment plans or anything cause the only way I'll be able to afford it anytime soon would be a payment plan....however i do plan on getting it and when i have the money, you'll get an email from me.

Sorry no payment plans. I just have everyone send a MO or pay via paypal.

I don't think AMS sells Soundcraft?

Ok, I did a search for Soundcraft and it came up empty. They run it under Spirit.

lol ok soundcraft spirit...i forgot the whole name..my bad.. hey how many other dealers like you are on this site?

I think I'm the only one. I make my living as a sound contractor. I sell gear on the side to make a few extra bucks. If I can make 10% or so for a few emails I'm happy. I sell a lot of KRK on Ebay.

Hey deepwater, what brands are you a dealer for? Just soundcraft and KRK or others as well?

P.S. sorry, don't mean to hijack the thread

Also...did you guys see that amazon.com is now selling instruments and some recording gear? Strange....
