what does your shop charge for a setup?

The shop I go to charges 70 for a six string. Not bad, considering these guys are the best in town, and it makes 200 dollars worth of difference.

In my case, there's things I can do with those that they can't undo

I spent about 60 euros getting my Epi Les Paul set up. That included cleaning (it looks so much better without finger grease on the fretboard :D ) and a set of strings.

You kinda have to trust the guy though. When I came in to pick it up this dude was upstairs in the shop playing my epi, he said he liked the sound so much... not sure if he was for real or not, might've just been a sales trick. I must say it did play a lot better after the setup, a well spent 60 euros.

I was just baiting Light, but I don't have the patience to wait for his admonishment! :D
Actually, I offer low cost setups for people who want unplayable, untunable guitars! :)

I was talking about sticking them up my ass for stimulation, but that works

my local dealer charges £30.00 for a setup but drops to £20.00 once your a regular customer. Does an amazing job and can really bring your old guitars back to life. Has made my Maverick X1 feel like a new guitar again. Well worth the money.

Around here a basic setup costs $40-$50. That includes new strings and adjusting the neck and action. If the frets need any sanding or some electronics need work the price doubles.

Here in No Cal I've seen them for around $60. I went out and bought a peterson virtual strobe tuner and an isntructional video and set it up myself. basic set ups aren't tough to do.
