I use FruityLoops because I'm used to it but I don't like the way the instrumentals come out... It sounds way too much computerized...
I'm trying to learn Logic Audio Platinum 4.7.1 now but I understand not a lot...

I use the ensoniq/emu asr-x pro with the urban expansion card.
it's a sampler too, but most of my samples are secondary percussion instruments, not the main kick, snare and hat stuff.
oh, but i did get this one snare sound from The Tony Rich project CD. it was a rim'ish snare that just had that oomph to it.
