Ok I have a few question. I was looking into getting one for the orbit II 50 disc 40x CD duplicator and I want to know do you guys think it is worth it. iam not looking into burn on cdr but onto the professional CDs.

Ummm... dunno... what's the price, specs etc? We need info man!! :P

Also if I'm not mistaked professional CDs aren't burned but are pressed. So there is no such thing as "professional quality" CDRs (at least not in the sense you're talking.)

The main difference is if you leave a burnable CDR in direct sunlight (burn side up) you can definitely harm the disk even over a short time. Over a long time ... well the disk melts (so does a recular CD but over the short term the sun won't harm the recorded area)

Am I making any sense or do I need another espresso???

Yes it's true! I'm an Acid Pro junkie!!

It say it is for doing professional CD. You dump a stack of cds in the tray and it press and label and send it out finished. It say its for professional CD. THe cost if $1899 but I have spent that and more on a couple of my albums. I have a Gospel group and two RnB groups. I have already paid a company to press 2000 of each and its time for me to to reorder some more. I was just wondering you it be a wise investment, because I have already spent about $4000 letting someone else to it.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner... somehow I got unsubscribed to this thread so I didn't know you'd replied to me

Ok the unit you're talking about does burns (Nothing wrong with that really... the only major questions I'd ask before you buy is "What kind of ink does it use?" and "Does it print directly to the CD? Or to a lable that goes on the CD?"

The ink question is important as I've seen some cheaper units that basicky wears off after about a month (the ink comes off on yer hands and everything... it's pretty ugly)

Tmay,
In light of your situation (which you failed to explain in your first post) I would buy the unit. I think I saw it in the MF catalog, can't remember where I put the catalog.....I was going to check out the printing situation. Looks like you would just about break even on your first run. Don't forget cd's, cases, inserts, etc. are gonna cost ya too, but why not go for it. Maybe you can even offer that service to someone else, to help offset the cost.
