You have one mic, I'd look there first. Then I'd get rid of all that V-Amp stuff and get something real, you'll wonder how you ever thought that stuff sounded good when you do.

im a one man band so i dont need more than one mic. as far as my behringer stuff, i buy what i can afford, 800 a month child support kinda puts a damper on your spendings

V-amp stuff? What? Do you mean Behringer stuff? The V-Amp is not a bad piece of equipment.

I am interested in what is real? Let me know because I need to upgrade my equipment. If you mean what kind of mic and amp let me know what you suggest. I am looking for real.

I would the dump the bbe sonic maximizer first.
Swap someone for a SM57 or Beta 57.

Hi.

The V-Amp is indeed wonderful for scratch tracks. But compared to a real guitar amp mic'd up in a good room with a good mic it will pale in comparison. I've had V-Amps in here before, and for demo stuff...fine. But personally if I was to spend some money and I was him, I would probably buy an amp as it would net a huge difference in sound.

I suggest the Randall MTS system, it's a very good sounding system and smokin' versatility. It's a "modeling" amp without the digital model stuff, real components that pretty much nail their intended sonic targets. I own the RM80 combo and love it...!

Concerning mics for cab work, if you really want real the AEA R84 or a lot of the Royer stuff are excellent go to mics. Of course, a 57 can slay on certain cabs.

I can't tell if you're offended by what I said, but if you are I do apologize. He asked for opinions and that was mine. I didn't suggest it because it said Behringer on it either, I'm not a big Behringer basher!

Ouch...

What won't your rig do then that you need it to do?

Again I'm not bashing Behringer here, if you like it and it works for you that's great.

But think of the situations you run into and you find yourself saying "man I wish I owned _____ " and that will tell us a lot. It may also tell you that you don't need anything.

I agree with the dumping the Maximizer first...

I've found that many 'newer' users tend to misuse them at the finishing stages to compensate for dull sound that could have been changed through EQ, Compression, different mics, or even some good old mixing technique...

Save those precious few bucks for something you may use more...

And Don't worry about Behringer...
Depending on what you do (We've had HUGE discussions on this board about them), Behringer will and usually does show up in EVERYONE's studios here in some form or another... I happen to use almost all Behringer mixers in my setup currently and never had issues with them - BUT, I make music for certain clients in a certain way - So do what you can - learn what you can - and improve where you can all the time - And you'll be great!!!

Good Luck...
