Indeed the Force is strong in this one (and don't tell me you're my father, he lives in Clarksville). Tell me about your vocal chain my friend.

I'm glad you like it! Vocals= Groove Tube AM52 mic, Aphex 107 pre, into the 2480. I later used the Waves RCL to compress the piss out of them, and I also used the Waves DeEsser. Then took them back into the 2480 for some EQ, and yet more compression.

I got really great vocal performances out of them, which is 90% of the battle!

That's an AM52? I have one too. Which pattern? Omni, cardiod or fig 8?

Man you get some great sound! My only suggestion is, well damn, I don't have one.

Thanks for listening, guys. It really means a lot!

Yo Darth, you bumped your thread the last time and I didnt say anything, now I will. Please dont do that and MAYBE if you actually checked out someone elses tunes and commented, more people would comment on yours. I am not going to listen to it, but I wanted to tell you that because you seem pretty cool, and when people bump there own thread, it annoys me. This is not a prelude to a flame war, it is just a friendly comment. :D

dont bump your own thread please, it is unfair to people who don't.

Cool song. Reminds me of Weezer / blink 182.
And please don't say who are they!
Pretty in your face recording too.

Sorry, B.SABBATH, I'm still trying to learn the rules of this forum, thanks :)

Wow, did u do it all yourself? Amazing. Drums are great. What are u asking im sure you know its perfect.

DARk lord of The sitH,

sounds pretty sweet... nice and full... and I'm just a sucker for poppy songs with lots of hooks, it hits the right pressure points for me :)

I really like the drum tracks... you managed to capture a lot of the natural characteristics of the kit... especially in the toms... during the breaks... I could hear the heads vibrate.

Very good work :)

great stuff

Hi there. It sounds great especially the Kik sound.
I prefer snare to be bit louder in mix though. great stuff.
can u tell us how u got the over all clarity and sound pressure level. beside RCL. any Analog gears? tube comp or Tape.?
THanx!

Thanks for listening, guys!

Shana, I recorded and mixed it all myself, but I didn't play it all!

Nanahime, the only analog gear I used was an Aphex 107 tube mic pre. Other than that, it's all Roland VS-2480 and a computer. I have 6 channels of the Aphex mic pre, and every track on this song was run through one.

Thanks again for taking the time to listen.

Aaaaaah-A good ole 2:20 power pop-get in, get out tune....I really like the descending riff in the chorus, no complaints about the recording either-sounds like you captured the live essence of the group really well. Good job! Strat

That's interesting, it really shows the talent of the band! This song was recorded enirely as overdubs! The drummer played to along with a scratch guitar, but everything else was overdubbed. I will make sure to pass the comment onto the band...they'll appreciate it!

Dude you gotta tell us how you obtain your drum sounds. What size room? carpeted floors? drywall? Sound absorbers? mic placement and distances? eq? reverb? Dont be shy...

A garage-type room in a house, about 10 feet by 12 feet, tiled floors, regular walls?drywall?, no sound abosorbers, 57 right on the snare, 57 right on the floor tom, D112 in the kick pointed right between the beater and the rim, 2 Groovetube AM52's as overheads, massive EQ, massive compression on the snare and kick, Roland VS2480 'Room Amb' patch as reverb for the snare track, all ran through Aphex 107 mic pres straight into the Roland VS2480.

I can be more exact if you want, but I'm kinda tipsy :)! I'll check again tomorrow...I'm really glad that you like the drum tones!

Damn....

Can I be their Roadie?

Damn....this is good..
great job on recording man....
The drums are awesome...

Take it easy,
Joe
