What do you think of Switchcraft connectors?

Let us be unburdened by that which has been ?
Just bought two snakes to go from my board to a reel and back. 1/4 in/out on the Mackie, RCAs on the MSR. I hear Neutrik praised quite a bit. Just wondering if I did the right thing in investing in the Switchcraft/Rapco as opposed to Hosa low end or making my own with Neutrik and Mogami. They won't arrive until next week, so I can't give my hands-on opinion, but just curious what the consensus is on what I bought.

Most all the cable terminations (1/4" and XLR)in my studio are Switchcraft, primarily because when I acquired most of them, it was the about the best, or at least the most common. They've served me very well through the years both on stage and in the studio. All my patchbays are Switchcraft as well.

Coming from a gear slut with some pretty quality stuff, that holds a lot of creed with me. :D :D I've invested this much thus far, and didn't want to sell my setup short in connections. Sounds like I will be OK. :)

Switchcraft is good, although I think they make a cheaper line of connectors that isn't as good as their good stuff. You might want to check on that. But their regular line of pro connectors is excellent.

I think one reason you see Neutrik get a lot of praise is that their connectors are a little easier to solder. I mean the XLR types. That's because the Switchcraft connectors have screws you need to deal with. Some people prefer that too though!

But Switchcraft connectors are fine.

I overwhelmingly prefer Neutrik XLRs. The TRS are pretty much the same, unless you need those clever locking Neutrik TRS.

I should also mention that I pretty much exclusively use Neutrik connectors myself when making cables. That's my preference, but I do think Switchcraft makes good connectors.

I have ne preference between the two. Switchcratft works well, Neutrik works well.

I'm not experienced enough in this area, but I didn't feel comfortable with some of the plastic connectors I saw, and knew metal was the way I wanted to go. The connectors I will have (and need) are TS to RCA, no XLR. Is there a physical attribute that would help me distinguish the cheapie Switchcrafts from the better ones? Thanks for the information everyone. Here is a pic of what is coming.

Switchcraft connectors are no better or worse than neutrik in reality. Just a different way of getting to the same result. Personally, I prefer the switchcraft connectors for 1/4", and neutrik on XLR. I like the fact that the switchcraft's have narrower 1/4" connectors, and that the Neutrik doesn't use that silly little screw on the XLR's:D

What he said.

Except I do use the Neutrik 1/4" connectors. You can get them in silver or black and I use that for color coding. My TS unbal connectors are in black and the TRS bal are in silver. This helps quick visual identification of the cable without having to look at the tip itself.
