What do you think of my new dark song?

It is a good listen, sound-wise. But the groove and interest go nowhere. The music is good for a 15 or 30 second segue. I've never heard a piece like this that doesn't have at least one repeating breakout, chorus, or signature hot riff...or a percussion groove to drive it. A lot of potential. Needs more musical story to keep people tuned in for more than a couple cycles, I think.

But it is a nice recording. I'd be intrested in the technique for recording the vocal and gaining the wide, flangie footprint. The highlight.

I agree with Jeffmaher about those 15 to 30 seconds, after that i got tired, of course i couldn't remember anything of the lyrics, but that's logic since there is no chorus, i think that remembering it wasn't what you wanted... but on the other hand, the rhythm is still in my head. Everything sounds clear, excellent mix/mastering.

Cheers

Vocals could be a little more harsh and compressed for this style.

A difference in the backing track would be nice maybe a breakdown or a chorus.

I think a little more mixing could be done to balance the instruments and definitely bring the vocal to the foreground. The vocal is the most important part.

I like your rapping it is pretty nice.:)

im tickled pink! cool im going to make a whole album like this in this sound today. i wrote like 10 long 100 bar songs like that and 10 musical backdrops in a similar style. so im going to record it now.

Just because it sounds better than most of your recordings doesn't mean you should make a whole album like this... It sounds better, but the music itself isn't any better. Work on your song writing first LOL :spank:

This sounds way better than a lot of your other stuff. You've got a ways to go, but it sounds like you're learning and trying to improve.

Your beats are a little repetitive. It sounds like you've just got 12 measures that you're looping through. I'd use that 12-bar loop once or twice per verse, and then have a different (though related and similar) loop on the chorus.

You also want to make sure to have a hook. Something that's catchy and repeatable, to use on the chorus.

Your recording technique has improved though. You've got actual songs instead of just walls of noise.

What you probably want to do is spend a lot of time working on one song, trying to make it sound the best it can instead of just churning out a whole bunch of songs as fast as possible.

hehe thank you vomithat. my sexy puerto rican girlfriend got me a new mic, so that is part of the new good sound! so now i like doing these really long songs. and i use a special technique i created to create the music!

Yeah it's hard to listen to the whole song because it just repeats itself and there isn't any ear candy to keep someone listening. Take vomits advice. And make a really catch hook or chorus in between the verses.

Verse: The verses in a song all have the same melody but different lyrics. The verse lyrics give us information about the situation, emotions, or people in the song.

Chorus: We may hear the chorus of a song three, four or more times. The lyric and melody remain the same each time it recurs. The chorus lyrics sums up the heart of the song. The title of the song almost always appears in the chorus section and may be repeated two or more times.

Bridge: The bridge has a different melody, lyrics, and chord progression from the verse or chorus. It provides a break from the repetition of verse and chorus. The lyric often provides an insight or revealing moment.

Pre-chorus: Many of today's hits include a short section at the end of the verse that builds energy, letting the listener know that the chorus is coming. By creating a sense of anticipation, the chorus has even more punch when it finally arrives.

I agree with everyone. I couldn't listen to more than one minute of each song. Not because it sounded bad, but because of the repetition. For the first song I put my hand over my left speaker because it seemed that's where most of the beat was coming from.

Overall they're a lot better than your recordings from the past.
