I'm going to be purchasing some equipment in the next couple weeks, and I was planning on buying a mixer rack. Reading about head dissipation and other issues, I think I want some opinions on how to set it up and how many spaces i should get in a mixer rack. Here are some I have been looking at on ebay stores.

I have a Yamaha MG16/4 mixer that I will be putting in the top slanted rack. And then the following future purchases in the lower rack. Are there any problems with putting the following devices right on top of each other, or in this order?
- Furman PL-8II
- 1U pullout drawer for laptop
- Presonus Firestudio
- Glyph external firewire 320GB hard drive rack mounted
- (future buy) compressor limiter
- (future buy) 900watt carvin power amp
Now some quick questions
- I am thinking that I should get a 6U mixer rack, keeping all the processing devices in the mixer rack, and then when I get a power amp; put that in a separate box so it's not too heavy instead of getting an 8U rack, and just get a 6U rack. I could either save some money now or in the long run. Any thoughts on this issue.
- I was thinking with a firestudio and hard drive for recording I should get a really good power conditioner, do you think the PL-8II is necessary, or would I get the same results and protection with the M-8L , or the M-8D . I definitely want to protect my gear, but not to the point of spending a ton of money on something outrageously out of my needs.
- This might be a dumb question, but my mixer did come with rack rails that were screwed into the sides in a different way if used out of a rack. Do all 16 channel mixers fit in racks like this?
I'm just a little foggy on some things, so if you could drop a line or two that would be helpful.
