OK, what you need to know is that mixer comes with this:

http://www.behringer.com/UCA202/index.cfm?lang=ENG

which is only a 2 channel interface. Certain Xenyx mixers come with a free USB interface so you can run a stereo mix to your computer, but it will not stream 10 tracks simultaneously. You would need either Firewire, PCI, or some of the newer USB 2.0 items coming out.

As far as the mixer goes, I've used the UB version of the 2442, and I also own the 1204FX. I've used them for live stuff, but they are a little noisy IMO for recording, now maybe the XENYX line is better for that, but considering its behringer, i'm not counting on it. All in all though, for budget mixers, they can't be beat, BUT...you will not be able to stream 10 tracks simultaneously with them.

Couldn't I run the 2-track out on the mixer to the stereo input on that thing? Wouldn't that record all those 10 tracks simultaneously onto 1 track on the PC?

Yes, that would work. But you made it sound like you wanted to record 10 individual tracks simultaneously, insted of just a stereo mix. All you will be able to do is record left and right out of the mixer. If that's what you're wanting, then that's probably the ticket for you.

I've been reading some stuff about the Behringer Xenyx-series mixers. Accourding to the manual the supplied USB-interface can handle 4 tracks as input to the computer. The manual is very limited when it comes to covering the interface though. (I'm looking at the 1222FX in particular).

Check out the link above to the picture of the product that it comes with. It is only 2-channel in and 2-channel out. Now that is 4 TOTAL channels, but not all one way. You also need to know that the USB support is not built into the mixer itself. With select mixers you get the USB audio interface that is linked above.

Hmmm, I was suspecting something like that. I've sent an e-mail to Behringer to find out more about the actual USB-Interface (did this a couple of days ago), but they haven't replied yet.

I've been in contact with a local vendor as well but they have no more information than I've found for myself on the Behringer website. Seems this USB-interface is basically a hype.

Don't buy behringer, it may be affordable. but when it comes to the music realm of life "You get what you paid for." and you'll end up buying another one next year when that one craps out. I've had a lot of behringer equipment and its just cheaply made stuff. Get something with quality, you'll be more proud of it and you won't have to tell everyone "Yeah I know it a behringer but it works" because it won't work for long.
