What do you call that mic stand thingy?

Hi guys. First post here, it's a no-brainer - that is for everyone but me apparently.

I'm looking for an adjustable angled head to fit to a mic boom stand. This should screw onto the end of the boom and then angle up vertically. I want to mount a studio mic in its spider shockmount and a vocal booth on the end with the stand giving an offset from the base. A counterweight will be used to balance it of course. It's effectively like a normal stand mic clip but with a second threaded end in place of the clip. I don't think the threads offered will be crucial as adapters can be bought for anything nowadays. Surely this must be an available item?

I've crawled all over every site I can find but I can't see one anywhere and I can't even find a reference to it to know what it would be called. I would just think of it as a boom mounting adjustable elbow but that brings up nothing. Can anyone give me a clue or, even better, a link to one?

Shockmounts typically have the stand mount end on them already, and have an adjustment joint for angle.

I believe the typical SAE thread size and pitch is 5/8" x 27 threads.

MJB: I have the fitting in the shockmount, that is not the problem. The vocal booth is the issue. I can fit it along with the mic in its shockmount as long as the stand is vertical. The type I have unfortunately has only a fixed slotted bracket which does not allow you to angle the booth, so the booth is permanently in line with the boom even though you can angle the mic in its cradle. It's unusable like that. I need the elbow to allow me to mount the mic and booth correctly oriented together then use the elbow to bring them both vertical not just the mic.

Unfortunately I think DaleVO's boom is just that, another boom. BentRabbit's mini-mini-boom is the most promising thing I've seen so far. I had imagined the arms would be shorter and it would only really effectively be the joint with two stubs but it could be a start.

Thanks all and if someone can offer anything more I would appreciate it.

The description you are giving makes it hard to understand the problem? Why use a boom at all? I sometimes just have a straight stand (boom removed) with the mic holder (cradle) on it to save space. Can you post am image of what the problem is?

Yay! I've found something. This sort of thing may get me going.

This is quite a large diameter clutch but it illustrates what I was talking about. Screw onto the boom end, angle it up to vertical, mount the screen / mic assembly on top. Haven't found it or an alternative in England yet but I'm on the trail.

That was similar to what I was going to recommend but you would want to have an adjustable small boom arm on what you have pictured there.

AND ..... With all that extra weight you are going to need a sand bag or an extra counter weight or it will be to tipsy.
