Taking the slow road
i got em on the patch bay, active monitors, and it's been ok until now, i have more sources than just my one multi and stereo. so now it's a rack line mixer or some kind of rack switch?

have 2 pc's 2 multi's stereo, cd player, maybe more.

I use a small 8 channel mixer for my active monitors.
PC,MiniDisc,CD player,Tape Player,VF160,MainMixer.

The little Yamaha MG series might be handy for that. I use it for mixing CD, drum machine, etc, to headphones when practicing guitar.

I use my console, it also switches between 2 sets of monitors.

Presonus Central Station here too. It has made my life a lot easier! Speaker switching, source switching, mono checking, dim, DA conversion, it's a great unit for the price, very functional and useful.

I currently use a of Radio Shack switcher to select from 3 sources:

1. Mixer - for monitoring during tracking, etc
2. Recording decks (CD, DAT or cassette - via patch bay) during mixing/dubbing, etc
3. Reference CD (I have a dedicate send for this since I use it alot during tracking/mixing)

I use a seperate Radio Shack switcher to send the amplified signal to 4 sets of passive speakers (Reveals, Aurotones, Monitor Ones & Optimus)

This systems works well enough with minimum loss of signal and little added noise. However, a Central Station is on my list of upgrades in the near future.

I also have one of these. Actually I have two. One which is very old has the levers on it as opposed to knobs. The old lever type would let you make wrong connections that would cause feedback. In the later models they made it so you couldn't make that mistake. I love those little boxes.

I am a holder of the sacred switched box as well... I wish they still made 'em like that... Awesome for driving a bunch of I/O around.

Mixing board. Does lots of other stuff, too: 32 preamps, EQ's, etc. Quite the handy device.

control center

Adcom Pre-Amp.

It ain't digital but it's very user friendly.
Has Mono button. Has bypass Tone..
I can even control my Actives from it too.

It has LAB IN/OUT's but not sure what that is...
haven't looked but there probably ~$50ish

A Designs ATTY2'D...no it isn't out yet...got me one of them there demos...it's made for 5.1 but heck I just use them 2 stereo ones for my 2 pairs...

I use a little Roland Digital mixer to pump my CD player, radio and domestic PC through.
When I'm recording or mixing with my 24 channel desk I employ the low-tech solution of getting round the back and swapping the monitor leads from the Roland desk. I think a more user-friendly solution is long overdue.
