Okay, I want to start recording at home. I sing and I play guitar/bass. I've used Cakewalk in the past and I would probably use it again. I have access to good mics and a 2.53 ghz computer with 256 MB RAM and 60 GB hardrive. Could someone tell me exactly what I'd need to start recording and make suggestions. I'd like 24-bit quality (have a cd-burner), at least 16-track playback, and versatility. Quality is good, but I'm on a tight budget. I'm thinking of going Cakewalk, but I don't know what else I'd need. I drum machine on the program and possibly guitar effects would be good, but not necessary (well, the drums kinda' are). Anyway, what would I need to get quality recording besides the program (also please suggest some programs as I'm unfamilary with many new ones)? Drum machine? One of those little analog to digital four-track boxes?
Please email as I have little time to check the forum.
